About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Retention Marketing Manager to develop and execute lifecycle marketing strategies across both our B2B and DTC channels. You'll play a pivotal role in increasing customer lifetime value, driving repeat purchase behavior, and enhancing brand loyalty through personalized communication, automation, and insights.
This role is perfect for someone who can balance creative campaign development with a strategic understanding of segmentation, behavioral data, and the distinct needs of our B2B and DTC audiences.
Responsibilities:
DTC Retention & Lifecycle Programs
- Lead email and SMS strategies for onboarding, education, repurchase, replenishment, winback, and loyalty campaigns.
- Use segmentation and behavior triggers to drive repeat purchase and upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
- Optimize campaign performance through A/B testing and personalization.
B2B Lifecycle & Wholesale Engagement
- Develop nurture flows for new wholesale leads, including onboarding, reordering reminders, and engagement check-ins.
- Collaborate with marketing to drive repeat orders, wholesale promotions, and partnership retention.
- Analyze order cadence and build proactive strategies to maintain account activity and minimize churn.
Analytics, Insights & Optimization
- Monitor KPIs such as repeat purchase rate, time between purchases, CLTV, churn rate, email/SMS performance, and cohort retention.
- Provide monthly insights and actionable recommendations to marketing, sales, and executive leadership.
- Build dashboards or reporting structures to measure and forecast retention health.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Creative, CX, Sales, and Data teams to ensure campaigns align with brand and performance goals.
- Ensure alignment with product launches, seasonal moments, and promotional windows.
- Partner with the CX and Brand team to help develop customer personas and develop a unique marketing segmentation strategy towards each.
Utilize data to make daily decisions, and optimizations to hit quarterly KPI’s
Who You Are:

5–7+ years of retention, email/SMS, or lifecycle marketing experience across DTC or B2B (strong in one, with readiness to grow into the other).

Experience with Klaviyo, Postscript, Attentive, or similar CRM platforms.

Strong understanding of customer segmentation, journey mapping, and marketing automation.

Analytical mindset with comfort working in Shopify, Google Analytics, Looker, or other reporting tools.

Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Bonus: Experience with Hubspot or other B2B-specific marketing strategies.

We do have staff who work remotely, but our HQ is in downtown Ottawa.
We're still a small, tight knit team. Most of our team is located in Ottawa, Canada, but we now have employees spanning across the world remotely.
To date, Bushbalm is in over 5,000 waxing salons, and on shelves nation wide at Ulta Beauty.
We're growing our team and departments at a fast pace. Our most mature departments are Marketing and Product Development.
Other departments that are well established include Operations, Customer Service, Design and Finance.
Our team is primarily headquartered in Ottawa, Canada.
We're open to remote candidates, but would like to hire first in Ottawa, so we can gather easily. In regards to your workday, we are a flex model and allow employees to work remote when they wish.
