About the Role:
The Retention Marketing Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing Bushbalm's Email and SMS retention marketing programs across both DTC and B2B channels.
This role will own the day-to-day retention calendar, lifecycle campaigns, segmentation, testing, and creative execution while managing the Retention Marketing Coordinator. The ideal candidate is strategic, data-driven, highly organized, and passionate about creating personalized customer experiences that drive retention, repeat purchases, and customer lifetime value.
The Retention Marketing Manager is a new role. It will report directly to the Senior Retention Marketing Manager.
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000 CAD.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of Email and SMS campaigns across DTC and B2B channels, ensuring retention initiatives support product launches, promotions, and business priorities.
- Own and optimize customer journeys including Welcome, Browse Abandonment, Cart Abandonment, Post-Purchase, Replenishment, Loyalty, Subscription, and Winback.
- Develop audience segmentation strategies using customer behavior, purchase history, and engagement data to deliver personalized customer experiences.
- Own the retention creative strategy, including campaign messaging, testing, and customer journey optimization across Email and SMS.
- Manage and mentor the Retention Marketing Coordinator, providing direction, feedback, and support on campaign execution and QA.
- Analyze campaign performance and optimize key KPIs including Open Rate, Click Rate, Revenue per Recipient, Repeat Purchase Rate, and Customer Lifetime Value.
- Partner with Brand, Creative, CX, and Data teams to align retention initiatives with product launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.
- Drive ongoing A/B testing and experimentation to continuously improve retention performance and customer engagement.
- Oversee retention platforms including Klaviyo, Postscript, and related marketing technology to ensure campaigns and automations follow best practices.
Who You Are:
- You have 3–5 years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing within ecommerce.
- Experience training and managing direct reports
- Proficient in Shopify, Klaviyo, and ideally Postscript as well.
- Passion for working in Skincare or Beauty and e-commerce

We do have staff who work remotely, but our HQ is in downtown Ottawa.
We're still a small, tight knit team. Most of our team is located in Ottawa, Canada, but we now have employees spanning across the world remotely.
To date, Bushbalm is in over 5,000 waxing salons, and on shelves nation wide at Ulta Beauty.
We're growing our team and departments at a fast pace. Our most mature departments are Marketing and Product Development.
Other departments that are well established include Operations, Customer Service, Design and Finance.
Our team is primarily headquartered in Ottawa, Canada.
We're open to remote candidates, but would like to hire first in Ottawa, so we can gather easily. In regards to your workday, we are a flex model and allow employees to work remote when they wish.
